D.T.V. Dhinakaran criticizes Tamil Nadu health minister over hospital remarks
D.T.V. Dhinakaran, General Secretary of the Naam Tamilar Katchi, has criticized the Tamil Nadu Minister for Medical Services, Medical Education, and Health regarding comments made about the “Thaimaman Thanga Morikkam” (Mother's Gold Ring) scheme.
Dhinakaran condemned the Minister's tone, stating that suggesting a one-gram gold ring would entice mothers to use government hospitals is insulting to women. He argued that the government should focus on improving healthcare quality rather than using incentives to increase hospital attendance.
Furthermore, Dhinakaran highlighted ongoing issues in state-run hospitals, including shortages of doctors and nurses, lack of medical equipment, rodent infestations in intensive care units, and inadequate hygiene and lighting during patient care. He urged the government to prioritize providing quality treatment to the poor and marginalized instead of using an authoritative tone.
