du launches SME digital transformation playbook with Huawei in UAE
du, the Emirates telecom and digital‑services provider, and Huawei UAE have released a new SME playbook titled “From Set Up to Set for Growth”. The guide is based on a comprehensive survey of 648 small‑ and medium‑size enterprises across all seven emirates and five major industry sectors conducted between January and March 2026. While digital tool usage is high among UAE SMEs – 81% use laptops or desktops, 77% rely on point‑of‑sale systems and 63% employ productivity and collaboration software – only 8% have reached an advanced level of digital maturity. The study identified key barriers to further transformation: setup costs (47%), skills gaps (45%), subscription fees (37%) and integration challenges (31%).
The playbook offers practical, outcome‑driven guidance in five areas – strengthening customer engagement, boosting productivity, improving cash flow, building operational resilience and adopting low‑risk artificial‑intelligence applications. du’s Chief Commercial Officer Karim Benkirane said, “Digital transformation is not about adopting more technology; it is about making existing technology work harder for businesses.” The resource aims to help UAE SMEs maximise the value of the digital tools they already own, reduce disruption and make more confident decisions.
By providing a clear roadmap and expert advice, the du‑Huawei partnership seeks to enhance the digital maturity of the UAE’s SME sector and support sustainable business growth.
