Dua Lipa and Callum Turner host lavish Palermo wedding, sparking local complaints

British pop star Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner married in a private civil ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall on May 31, 2026, then staged a three‑day celebration at Villa Valguarnera in Bagheria, east of Palermo. The weekend featured a guest list of international celebrities—including Elton John, Charli XCX, Donatella Versace and Troye Sivan—and performances such as Elton John’s rendition of “Your Song”. A ten‑minute fireworks display capped the festivities, while the couple wore two custom white dresses designed by Versace.

The celebrations caused disruption for Palermo residents: streets and historic squares were closed, security cordons erected and some locals received £5,000 compensation for parking and access issues. Protest signs read “Our square is not your living room”. Albanian‑heritage music and dancing were also included, reflecting Lipa’s roots. After the parties, the superyacht Nero departed Villa Igiea and the newlyweds were seen briefly on a hotel balcony before leaving Sicily.

The event reportedly cost around £1.5 million and drew criticism alongside praise for its scale and cultural touches.
