Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s Palermo Wedding Draws Protests
Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner are holding a multi‑day wedding celebration in Palermo, Sicily, after a small ceremony in London. More than 200 guests are expected, with attendees listed as pop stars Elton John and Charli XCX, as well as designer Donatella Versace. The couple are staying at the five‑star Villa Igiea hotel and the festivities will be spread across Palermo and the nearby town of Bagheria, with an estimated total cost of about €4 million.
Local activist group Apro Palermo has posted protest placards denouncing the event as a display of wealth and a catalyst for mass tourism. Slogans such as “Palermo is not for the rich” and “Our piazza is not your living room” have appeared around the city. Several restaurants and businesses involved in the celebrations have signed confidentiality agreements.
