Dušan Kozarev meets Azerbaijani officials in Baku

Dušan Kozarev, Secretary General of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Fourth International Conference on Missing Persons in Baku, Azerbaijan. During the plenary session, Kozarev emphasized Serbia’s commitment to resolving the fate of missing persons from the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, noting that approximately 9,500 individuals remain missing in the region.

Kozarev highlighted the humanitarian necessity of cooperation between international organizations, forensic experts, and families. He noted that while regional databases exist, political factors have recently hindered cooperation with institutions in Croatia and Kosovo and Metohija. He also referenced historical suffering, including the genocide in the Jasenovac camp during World War II.

In addition to the conference, Kozarev held bilateral meetings with Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Committee for International and Interparliamentary Relations of the Azerbaijani Parliament, and Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev. The discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships, parliamentary cooperation, and economic and energy ties. Both nations expressed readiness to further develop their relations, which are currently at a high level due to the friendship between Presidents Vučić and Aliyev. Azerbaijan also confirmed its intention to participate in Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
