Montenegrin Media Union condemns threats against photojournalist

The Media Union of Montenegro (SMCG) has issued a strong condemnation following threats made against Vijesti photojournalist Boris Pejović. The incident occurred in Podgorica while Pejović was performing his professional duties in front of the Misdemeanor Court.

According to police reports, Boris Radosavović allegedly threatened to physically harm Pejović and damage his camera after suspecting he was being photographed. Following a report by the journalist, Podgorica police identified and arrested Radosavović. While the state prosecutor determined the actions constituted a misdemeanor under the Law on Public Order and Peace rather than a criminal offense, Radosavović has been deprived of his liberty.

The SMCG highlighted that this incident is part of a broader trend, noting that 17 attacks on media workers have been recorded in Montenegro since the beginning of the year. The union called on state institutions to ensure the safety of journalists and to demonstrate that intimidation and interference with media work will not be tolerated.
