Duane Davis convicted of first-degree murder in Tupac Shakur killing
A Las Vegas jury has convicted Duane 'Keffe D' Davis of first-degree murder in connection with the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. The jury reached its verdict after deliberating for less than three hours. Prosecutors argued that Davis orchestrated the drive-by shooting, which was allegedly in retaliation for an altercation involving his nephew.
In his first interview following the conviction, Davis maintained his innocence, claiming that his civil rights were violated and that law enforcement and prosecutors lied during the trial. He stated that he expects to be released on appeal, which his legal team has already filed. Davis also disputed the prosecution's narrative regarding his involvement with Sean 'Diddy' Combs, claiming that allegations of a million-dollar hit were fabricated by his former legal counsel.
Davis, 63, faces a potential sentence of life in prison without parole. The sentencing is expected to be handed down by a judge at a later date. The verdict provides a legal conclusion to a case that has remained a central mystery in hip-hop history for nearly three decades.
