Dubai Accord signed to address academic integrity in the age of AI
The European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI) has concluded its 2026 Summer School in Dubai with the signing of the ‘Dubai Accord on Academic Integrity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’. The four-day event brought together students, educators, and researchers from Europe and the Middle East to address how AI is transforming education, research, and academic writing.
Hosted by Canadian University Dubai and the University of Europe for Applied Sciences, the programme featured lectures, workshops, and panel discussions. A key component involved students directly in the drafting process, contributing perspectives on the rights and responsibilities of learners and institutions. The discussions focused on evolving academic policies, the distinction between paraphrasing and patchwriting, and the appropriate use of AI-enabled tools in assessments.
The event was supported by Dubai Business Events (DBE), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The signing of the accord marks a collaborative effort to shape integrity standards as technology continues to reshape learning practices.
