Dubai and Russia deploy physical barriers to defend infrastructure against drones
Satellite imagery reveals a growing trend of using physical barriers to protect critical infrastructure from drone attacks. In Dubai, authorities have responded to approximately ten recorded attacks by installing extensive steel frameworks and large-scale nets around fuel tanks. These passive defenses are designed to intercept drones or trigger their detonation mechanisms prematurely, reducing reliance on expensive electronic countermeasures.
Similarly, energy facilities in Russia, particularly oil refineries, are implementing large wire mesh structures around sensitive components to mitigate the impact of drone strikes.
