Dubai basketball GM discusses roster targets and Serbian development plans

Dejan Kamenjašević, general manager of Dubai basketball, has discussed the club’s ambitions and its strategic approach to the European market. Addressing recent rumors regarding a massive offer made by Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos for Nikola Jokić, Kamenjašević noted that if Dubai were to make similar public claims, they would face different scrutiny than traditional EuroLeague giants.

Kamenjašević also detailed the club's roster construction plans, stating that they are actively seeking a playmaker, with Olympiacos player Thomas Vokap being a primary target. He admitted that the club was unable to financially match the offer made by Crvena Zvezda to player Nick Wheeler-Babe.

Furthermore, Dubai is planning to establish a developmental team in Novi Sad, Serbia, in collaboration with KK Vojvodina. This initiative aims to provide a platform for young players from the region to compete in various leagues, including the ABA 2 League and Next Generation tournaments. Kamenjašević emphasized the club's strong ties to the Balkans, noting that many of their players and coaching staff originate from the region.
