Dubai expands public transport with new electric feeder bus and Al Yalayis rail station
Dubai introduced an electric feeder bus service in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) area on August 1. The green bus departs from Sobha Realty Metro Station, loops around the eastern side of JLT and returns to the same station, cutting a typical 15‑20 minute walk to a short ride of 10‑22 minutes depending on traffic. The service aims to ease the last‑mile commute for office workers and residents.
Separately, Etihad Rail’s new passenger station, Dubai Al Yalayis Station, is set to open on September 30 near Jumeirah Golf Estates. A footbridge under construction will link the station with the Metro, creating a major public‑transport interchange. The station will improve connectivity for nearby communities such as Green Community, Al Furjan and Dubai Investment Park, and provide a link to Al Maktoum International Airport. The opening follows strong demand on the Abu Dhabi‑Fujairah route, which has sold more than 70,000 tickets since services began.
