Dubai International Film Festival to relaunch in December 2027

The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is scheduled to relaunch in December 2027, marking its return after a ten-year hiatus following its abrupt discontinuation in 2018.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, vice chairperson and managing director of the Dubai Media Council, announced the revival during the Arab Media Summit. The new edition is expected to adopt a format that emphasizes the celebration of Arab cinema, aiming to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for film and television production.

Originally established in 2004, the festival was once considered a premier film event in the Middle East. While specific details regarding the new management and programming remain limited, the relaunch is viewed as a significant cultural development for the United Arab Emirates.
