Dubai KHDA introduces new private school regulations and inspection models
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has introduced new regulatory measures for private schools in Dubai, focusing on operational flexibility and enhanced oversight. Schools are now permitted to adjust their start and finish times to help mitigate traffic congestion, provided they obtain KHDA approval and consider student wellbeing and parental feedback.
Additionally, the KHDA is revamping its school inspection model. Under the new system, schools may receive inspection notices with as little as 24 hours' warning. The authority plans to utilize artificial intelligence to analyze school data and direct oversight to areas of specific need. While the traditional inspection cycle has been modified, any increases in school fees will remain tied to the most recent approved inspection assessment. The KHDA also expects to announce an Education Cost Index by April 2027 to account for economic indicators such as inflation.
