Dubai launches JLT Link, its first fully electric community bus service
From 1 August, Dubai will operate JLT Link, the emirate’s first fully electric community bus service, connecting the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) and Uptown Dubai neighbourhoods. The service runs two circular routes covering 18 stops, with buses arriving every 20 minutes in JLT and every 30 minutes on the Uptown route, operating from early morning until late evening, six days a week. Each ride costs Dh 3 and can be paid via the JLT Link app, which also provides live timings and route information. The electric buses replace the existing Roads and Transport Authority service and aim to give residents, office workers and visitors a cleaner alternative to driving, linking key metro stations such as DMCC and Sobha Realty.
The launch is part of Dubai’s broader push for greener transport options, coinciding with other August updates for UAE residents, including higher fuel prices, a 30 % discount at Louvre Abu Dhabi and the start of the new school year on 31 August.
