Dubai Municipality launches AI-powered building permit system

Dubai Municipality has announced a new project to fully automate the issuance of building permits using artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to create a digital ecosystem that can make accurate decisions in accordance with regulatory and engineering standards without human intervention.

The AI-powered system will read submitted drawings and documents to verify compliance with the Dubai Building Code. It will assess architectural designs, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and validate structural safety and building stability. The system is designed to cross-check data across all supporting documents and automatically generate building card information.

Specifically, the project will enable automated permits for all private and investment villas through an intelligent AI agent. This transition is expected to reduce permit issuance times from several days to just minutes, providing customers with instant decisions and pre-submission design checks. By limiting manual reviews to exceptional cases, the municipality intends to allow technical teams to focus on higher-value tasks while improving data accuracy for future urban planning.
