Dubai Mobility Labs opens for autonomous vehicle testing
Dubai has inaugurated the Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis, a specialized testing and certification facility for autonomous and future mobility technologies. Developed through a collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), the facility is designed to help developers move from simulation to real-world commercial deployment.
The labs offer a comprehensive testing ecosystem featuring 248 scenarios. This includes 195 scenarios within a multi-purpose area designed to replicate diverse traffic and environmental conditions, as well as trials on public roads extending from Dubai Silicon Oasis toward Al Qudra. These tests evaluate critical functions such as vehicle sensing, decision-making, and interaction with other road users.
German testing firm DEKRA has been appointed to manage the facility's operations for its first three years. The project supports the Dubai Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to ensure that 25 per cent of all mobility journeys in the emirate are autonomous by 2030. Companies including Tesla, WeRide, and Pony.ai have already participated in trials at the site.
