Dubai Police adds amphibious Yangwang U8 electric SUV to fleet

The Dubai Police Force has added the Yangwang U8, a high-performance Chinese electric SUV, to its patrol fleet. Introduced at the Dubai World Trade Centre through a partnership with Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, the vehicle is notable for its specialized capabilities.

The Yangwang U8 features approximately 1,197 horsepower, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Beyond its speed, the plug-in hybrid SUV is equipped with emergency flotation capabilities, allowing it to navigate floodwaters at low speeds, and the ability to perform 360-degree tank turns in place.

In addition to standard patrol duties, the Dubai Police intend to use the vehicle for community outreach and as a tourist attraction. This addition follows the recent recruitment of a Lamborghini Temerario, continuing the department's trend of utilizing exotic and highly specialized vehicles for institutional representation and public engagement.
