Dubai Police block 297 illegal drug websites in Q2 2026

Dubai Police identified and blocked 297 websites promoting illegal narcotics during the second quarter of 2026, a three‑fold increase over the first quarter’s 110 sites. The action was presented at the quarterly performance review of the General Department of Anti‑Narcotics, chaired by Major General Hareb Al Shamsi. The force also shared 125 intelligence reports with partner agencies worldwide, contributing to arrests of drug‑trafficking suspects abroad.

Under the UAE’s cyber‑crime law, creators or operators of such sites face imprisonment and fines of up to Dh1 million. Officials highlighted the transnational nature of online drug markets, noting that traffickers also use mainstream social media, encrypted apps and darknet platforms. The crackdown is part of a broader anti‑narcotics strategy that includes public awareness campaigns reaching nearly half a million people.
