Dubai Police seize 497 vehicles over unpaid fines

Dubai Police seized 497 vehicles during inspection campaigns in the first half of 2026 due to accumulated traffic fines and expired registrations. Some impounded vehicles had unpaid penalties totaling tens of thousands of dirhams, while others had not been registered for several years.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, stated that the enforcement actions aim to improve road safety and discourage irresponsible driving. He noted that unregistered vehicles may lack necessary technical inspections, posing risks to drivers and other road users.

Authorities warned that neglecting fines and registrations can lead to vehicle impoundment, legal action, increased financial costs, and the suspension of vehicle-related services. Dubai Police will continue these inspection campaigns and urge motorists to monitor their traffic records and settle outstanding dues.
