Dubai Police warn motorists against driving while fatigued or unwell
Dubai Police has issued a safety warning to motorists against driving while fatigued, drowsy, or experiencing sudden health issues. The alert follows a collision on Umm Suqeim Street towards Jumeirah Street, where a driver lost consciousness and lost control of their vehicle, resulting in a crash with another car.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, cautioned that seemingly minor symptoms can rapidly escalate into fatal accidents. The warning specifically highlights risks associated with low or high blood sugar, high blood pressure, heart disease, psychological disorders, and episodes of loss of consciousness.
Authorities urge drivers, especially those with chronic conditions or those undertaking long journeys, to undergo regular medical examinations, ensure sufficient rest, and take frequent breaks. Drivers are advised to stop immediately if they experience dizziness, sudden fatigue, or any unusual health symptoms.
