Dubai RTA launches extensive mobility and pedestrian bridge lighting upgrades

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a five‑year mobility plan that will link 25 residential neighbourhoods to 63 public‑transport stations by 2030. The initiative adds walking, cycling and e‑scooter routes to improve first‑ and last‑mile access, aims to cut car use, improve air quality and supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. It also upgrades areas around 37 Metro stations with pedestrian paths, enhanced pavements and added greenery.

At the same time, the RTA is upgrading lighting on 30 pedestrian bridges across the emirate. Motion‑sensor LED systems will automatically illuminate bridges when pedestrians are detected, improving safety while reducing energy consumption. The first 21 bridges are already being fitted, with full completion slated for the fourth quarter of 2026.
