Dubai to implement truck movement restrictions from October 2026
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have announced new truck movement restrictions across the emirate, effective October 1, 2026. The measures aim to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and reduce congestion on major routes.
While restrictions will vary by road, area, and congestion levels, Emirates Road will be exempt from the decision. Certain locations, including Al Qudra Street, Meydan Street, all marine bridges, and the Airport Tunnel, will be subject to round-the-clock bans. Other areas may face restrictions for up to 16 hours a day.
The RTA and Dubai Police will launch a comprehensive awareness campaign to inform heavy vehicle drivers, freight companies, and truck owners about the specific timings, scope, and available alternative routes. Authorities have urged drivers to comply with the new timings, use designated rest stops during ban periods, and avoid unauthorized parking in residential areas or on main roads to prevent violations.
