Dubai tourism hits record visitor levels as hospitality hiring intensifies

Dubai’s tourism sector has reached its highest visitor numbers since February 2026, according to data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) released during the opening of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026.

In December, the city recorded 2.04 million international overnight visitors, a 6% increase year-on-year. Hotel occupancy reached 66% in August, part of a steady rise from 36% in March 2026. By the end of August, hotel room inventory approached 149,000 rooms, with 21.61 million occupied room nights recorded in the first eight months of the year.

Parallel to this growth, the UAE hospitality sector is experiencing a surge in hiring. Industry experts at the ATM event noted that the challenge for employers has shifted from merely filling vacancies to competing for skilled professionals who possess a combination of hospitality expertise, adaptability, and digital proficiency. This talent race is driven by ongoing tourism growth and mega-project developments across the UAE and the wider Gulf region.
