Dubai unveils Food Security Strategy 2030

Dubai has launched its Food Security Strategy 2030, a plan designed to ensure the availability, affordability, and safety of food for its residents. Approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the strategy will be led by the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA) in collaboration with government and private-sector partners.

The strategy is built upon five core pillars: food availability, affordability, quality and safety, sustainability and resilience, and industry empowerment. To achieve these goals, the plan outlines five key initiatives focused on expanding local agricultural production through fisheries, livestock, and farmer cooperatives, while utilizing AgriTech to overcome local water and land limitations.

Additional priorities include building more resilient supply chains by diversifying import routes and suppliers, encouraging healthy consumption patterns, and implementing comprehensive programs to reduce food waste. The initiative also supports the broader UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051, aiming to strengthen the nation's position in international food security rankings.
