Dublin and London Stansted airports report record July passenger numbers

Major European airports Dublin and London Stansted reported record-breaking passenger numbers for July, driven by summer holiday demand and international events.

Dublin Airport welcomed 3,839,635 passengers in July, marking its busiest month since opening in 1940. This represents a 2.3% increase from the previous year and the 16th consecutive month of growth. The airport saw its highest single-day traffic on July 12, with 133,472 passengers. Factors contributing to the surge included the school summer holidays, the closing stages of the FIFA World Cup, and Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.

London Stansted Airport also achieved a historic milestone, processing 3.1 million passengers in July. This figure is a 6.3% increase over July of the previous year and surpasses the airport's previous monthly record. The airport's rolling annual passenger total has reached 30.5 million, an increase of 1.8%. Managing Director Gareth Powell noted that changing travel habits, such as more frequent shorter breaks, and enhanced long-haul connectivity have contributed to the record figures.
