Dublin Gardaí recover 76 stolen laptops and mobile phones

Gardaí have recovered 76 stolen electronic devices following a targeted search of a business premises in Dublin city centre. The operation, conducted on Thursday, August 20, resulted in the seizure of 36 laptops and 40 mobile phones.

The investigation began in July 2026 after officers traced a stolen mobile phone to the Dublin 1 area premises. The search was a collaborative effort involving the Store Street Community Engagement unit, the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB), and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

While no arrests have been made, the recovered devices are undergoing technical examination in an effort to return them to their rightful owners. Authorities advise anyone who has had a mobile phone stolen to contact their service provider to block the SIM card and 15-digit IMEI number, and to report the theft to their local Garda station.
