Dublin hosts international forum to combat antisemitism

The 15th Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism (SECCA) Forum was held in Dublin, bringing together 39 government delegates from 28 countries and various Jewish community representatives. Organized by the World Jewish Congress with funding from the European Commission, the forum focused on strategies to stem the tide of antisemitism, particularly on social media platforms.

The event took place amidst local tensions regarding Ireland’s foreign policy and its stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Maurice Cohen, head of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, noted the irony of hosting an antisemitism conference in a country where the local Jewish community has recently faced challenges, including holding a memorial for the October 7 terror attack victims in secret due to safety concerns.
