Dublin investigation continues after woman dies following balcony fall
An investigation is underway by An Garda Síochána following the death of Kathleen Carey, a mother in her 30s, after she fell from a second-storey balcony in Belmayne, Dublin 13.
The incident occurred on Monday, September 28, between 3:00 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. near Main Street. While initial reports suggested the woman may have jumped, authorities are investigating the possibility that she was pushed. A man in his 20s was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident but was released without charge on Wednesday. A file has since been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Kathleen Carey died at Beaumont Hospital from injuries sustained during the fall. A post-mortem examination has been conducted to assist the inquiry. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam and video footage from the area to come forward. The tragedy follows a period of significant loss for the family, who recently buried Carey’s sister.
