Irish law student and museum worker charged over intercepted car bomb

Twenty‑five‑year‑old law student Isobella Perrie Sullivan of Abbeylands Park, Clane, was charged with possession of explosives. She was remanded in custody with consent to bail, with conditions including a €15,000 independent surety, surrender of her passport, a 9 pm‑7 am curfew, daily sign‑in at Naas Garda station and a ban on contact with members of the Saoradh party or the New IRA. Sullivan told the court she had been “manipulated” and was unaware of the bomb’s contents.
Forty‑four‑year‑old Simon O’Donovan, a employee of the Collins Barracks National Museum, was also charged with possession of explosives linked to the same incident. His bail application was refused and he remains remanded in custody. O’Donovan represented himself at the Special Criminal Court and a subsequent High Court bail hearing, describing the process as “grossly unfair”. Both defendants appeared via videolink from the Dochas Centre and are due back before Monaghan District Court on 7 August.
