Dublin police seize evidence from wife of slain NYT engineer

Dublin police executed a search warrant at the Northern California residence of Candice Jang on September 29, seizing items including her vehicle and cellphone. The search is part of an investigation into the fatal shooting of her estranged husband, Jonathan McKinsey, a director of engineering for games player experience at The New York Times.

McKinsey was shot multiple times at close range in the Dublin Sports Grounds parking lot. Authorities have charged Jang’s parents, 77-year-old Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, with first-degree murder, lying-in-wait, and firearm allegations. Prosecutors allege the pair acted together during the incident.

The shooting occurred amidst a contentious divorce and custody battle involving McKinsey, Jang, and their three children. Court records reveal conflicting allegations of abuse from both parties. While police have confirmed the seizure of evidence, they have not stated whether Jang is considered a person of interest, and she has not been charged with any crime.
