Dublin to face major disruption during EU presidency summits
Dublin is expected to experience significant traffic and public transport disruption from November 10 to November 13, 2026, due to high-level European meetings. An Garda Síochána is preparing its largest-ever security operation to host the European Political Community summit on November 12 at the Convention Centre Dublin, followed by a second summit of EU leaders on November 13.
Extensive road closures are anticipated across both the northside and southside of the city. Specific restrictions are expected around the Convention Centre, Samuel Beckett Bridge, Merrion Square, and Pearse Street. A formal dinner is also scheduled at the National Gallery of Ireland on November 12.
The disruption coincides with planned industrial action, as thousands of civil servants are expected to participate in a 24-hour strike on November 12. Additionally, rank-and-file Gardaí will be operating under a work-to-rule arrangement from November 10 to November 14.
