Dubrovnik and Zadar Launch Major Heritage Restoration Projects

Dubrovnik’s mayor, Mato Franković, inspected the final works on the comprehensive renovation of Park Gradac. The project, worth €4.414 million, adds new pathways, lighting, a playground, an accessible sanitary hub, a small outdoor auditorium, and extensive planting of over 13 000 specimens. Funding combines city funds with €5.558 million in non‑repayable EU ITU support, and the park is being integrated into a greener‑infrastructure network.

In Zadar, the city council approved the preparation of design documentation to restore the medieval city wall that runs against Kapetanova kula. The design contract, awarded to a Zagreb conservators’ studio for €6 500 (plus VAT), aims to halt further deterioration and will guide restoration work planned for 2027. Financing will come from national cultural‑heritage calls and the city’s budget, and the project is part of a broader effort to preserve Zadar’s UNESCO‑listed historic core.
