Dubrovnik faces chronic traffic jams as fast‑road plan stalls

Residents of the Dubrovnik area endure daily traffic jams, with up to 30,000 vehicles using the Jadranska magistrala each day, especially during peak morning and afternoon hours and the tourist season. The only long‑term solution discussed is a new fast road from Dubrovnik to the airport, but the project remains in the planning stage. County prefect Blaž Pezo said officials must define the route, while traffic officials note the existing three‑metre lane cannot be expanded. Police and traffic wardens are deployed in large numbers, yet infrastructure limits prevent significant relief.
