Dubrovnik hits two million overnight stays for third year as Crikvenica sees June dip

Dubrovnik recorded two million overnight stays on 16 July, matching the same milestone for the third consecutive year. From the start of the year to 16 July the city welcomed 649,789 arrivals and logged 2,019,148 overnight stays, unchanged from the same period in the previous two years. The chief source markets were the United Kingdom, the United States, Croatia, France, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Spain, Canada and Australia. City officials highlighted the achievement as proof of Dubrovnik’s successful shift toward year‑round, sustainable tourism, noting its recent European Commission “Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism” award.

On the Adriatic Riviera, the Crikvenica tourism board reported that the first half of the 2026 season posted slightly fewer overnight stays than the comparable period in 2025 due to a “June gap”. Nevertheless, the remaining months showed growth. Between 1 January and 11 July 2026, the area recorded 154,055 arrivals and 651,982 overnight stays, representing a 0.79 % rise in arrivals and a 2.79 % decline in overnight stays year‑on‑year. The main source markets remained Croatia, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia, with notable increases from Hungary (+11.79 %), Slovenia (+7.30 %) and the Czech Republic (+23.31 %).
