Dubrovnik Summer Festival premieres Ibsen’s ‘A Woman of the Sea’ on Lokrum

The 77th Dubrovnik Summer Festival hosted the premiere of Henrik Ibsen’s ‘A Woman of the Sea’ on the island of Lokrum. Directed by Ivan Plazibat with dramaturgy by Petra Pogorevc, the production explores themes of love, freedom, and individual choice through a psychological analysis of its characters.

The cast includes Nina Violić as Ellida Wangel, Franjo Dijak as Doctor Wangel, and Adrian Pezdirc as Lyngstrand. The adaptation moves the original Scandinavian setting to a Mediterranean context, utilizing the natural atmosphere of Lokrum to enhance the dramatic tension. The production is scheduled to run through August 24.
