Dubrovnik Summer Games 77th edition launches with sold‑out lineup

Minister of Culture and Media Nina Obuljen Koržinek said the programme for the 77th Dubrovnik Summer Games "exceeds expectations", meeting high artistic standards while fostering audience development. The festival, funded with a €2.7 million budget, will run for 47 days until 25 August, presenting more than 70 performances of drama, music, dance, folklore and other forms across multiple venues.

The opening ceremony featured a flag‑raising and performances by the Minhen Radio Orchestra, choirs, dance ensembles and a special concert of Carmina Burana. The event was attended by mayor Mato Franković, parliamentary president Gordan Jandroković, several ministers and EU commissioner Dubravka Šuica.

A highlight of the programme is the first drama co‑production in the festival’s history – "Držićev Skup" – a joint effort of the Dubrovnik Summer Games, the Marina Držić Theatre and the Croatian National Theatre Split, directed by Paolo Magelli and staged with a large creative team. OTP Bank contributed a €25 000 grant to support the production.

Overall, the programme includes three premieres, five major concerts and numerous other events, with tickets sold out within days of release, underscoring the festival’s cultural significance for Croatia and its international profile.
