Dubăsari residents oppose administrative reorganization
Residents of the Dubăsari district in Moldova are calling for the preservation of its current administrative configuration until the Transnistrian conflict is resolved. During public consultations organized by the Promo-LEX Association in Coșnița, locals warned that administrative reorganization could undermine the ability of authorities to manage specific regional issues and maintain connections with the population in the temporarily occupied territory.
The Dubăsari district possesses a unique administrative-territorial structure resulting from the 1992 Moldo-Russian war. The area under constitutional control consists of 15 villages organized into 11 town halls across three plateaus: Coșnița, Cocieri, and Ustia. Because the city of Dubăsari remains outside constitutional control, the district lacks a centralized administrative center, with the Dubăsari District Council operating out of Coșnița and public services dispersed across various locations.
