Ducati drops to Concession Rank B as Marc Márquez posts fastest lap at German MotoGP

At the Sachsenring MotoGP round in Germany, Marc Márquez recorded the quickest lap of the weekend in his Ducati, timing 1’21.088 and extending his lead over his brother Álex and rookie Pedro Acosta. The race also marked the midway point of the 2026 MotoGP season, prompting a review of the sport’s concession system. Ducati, which had remained in the most restrictive Rank A since the system’s 2024 introduction, fell just short of the 85 % points threshold, earning 84.5 % and moving to Rank B. The change restores Ducati’s ability to use three wildcards for the rest of the season and raises its private‑test tyre allocation from 170 to 190. Aprilia rose from Rank C to Rank B after gathering 72 % of the championship points, reducing its test‑tyre pool from 220 to 190 and cutting its wildcard entries from six to three. KTM stayed in Rank C, while Honda and Yamaha slipped to Rank D after failing to meet the minimum points requirements. The adjustments affect the number of test tyres, wildcards, and development freedoms each manufacturer may use, though many of the new allowances remain theoretical for the remainder of the season.
