Ducati faces potential sale amid Volkswagen restructuring
Emilia-Romagna President Michele de Pascale has formally requested that the Italian government, specifically the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, initiate discussions regarding the future of Ducati Motor Holding. This request follows reports concerning Volkswagen Group’s ‘Future Plan 2030’, a restructuring program approved by its supervisory board that aims to reduce its investment portfolio by approximately one-third.
While the rumors of a potential sale or valuation of Ducati remain unconfirmed by Volkswagen, de Pascale emphasized the need for institutional attention to safeguard the brand, which he described as a symbol of the ‘Motor Valley’ and a prestigious expression of Italian manufacturing and innovation.
Former 500cc World Champion Franco Uncini also commented on the situation, noting that while an Italian buyer would be ideal, he remains confident in the brand's strength. Uncini expressed hope that despite potential ownership changes, the production, expertise, and know-how would remain Italian.
