Ducati riders set Guinness World Record for motocross distance
Italian riders Silvio Sabba and Valerio Boni have established a new Guinness World Record by covering 1,448.732 kilometers in 24 hours on a motocross motorcycle. The attempt took place on October 1 near Milan, Italy, on a dirt track consisting of 1,588 laps of a 912.3-meter loop.
The feat was achieved using a single, factory-standard Ducati Desmo450 EDS. The riders only stopped to refuel and perform one oil and filter change, which took less than 17 minutes. The motorcycle's stock LED headlight was the sole light source during the night portions of the ride.
This achievement coincides with Ducati's centenary. While the Desmo450 EDS is an enduro model capable of road use, the record was officially recognized in the category for the greatest distance covered in 24 hours on a motocross motorcycle by a team.
