Ducati shifts focus to 2027 MotoGP regulations amid 2026 technical challenges

Ducati is facing technical challenges in the 2026 MotoGP season as the Desmosedici struggles to maintain its previous dominance. Test rider Michele Pirro stated that there are no immediate solutions for the current bike's issues, noting that the machine's performance continues to vary significantly depending on circuit characteristics and asphalt conditions.

Rather than focusing on major revolutions for the 2026 model, Ducati is concentrating its resources on the 2027 project. This upcoming era will feature new technical regulations, including a reduction in engine capacity from 1000cc to 850cc and new aerodynamic restrictions.

Ducati may hold a strategic advantage during this transition due to the planned switch from Michelin to Pirelli tires. As the manufacturer already utilizes Pirelli tires in WorldSBK, riders like Pål Espargaró suggest the team will have valuable data and experience to optimize performance from the first day of the new regulations.
