Ducati unveils Monster Dark motorcycle with all-black design
Ducati has officially revealed the Monster Dark, a new, minimalist version of its naked motorcycle line. The model returns to the “Dark” aesthetic first introduced with the original Monster in 1993, featuring a total black livery, black wheels, and a single-material seat. To achieve this stripped-back look, certain components such as the front frame, exhaust end caps, and air intake snorkel are left unpainted.
Mechanically, the Monster Dark retains the core hardware of the standard model, powered by an 890cc V2 engine with Intake Variable Timing (IVT). The engine produces 111 hp at 9,000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. The motorcycle features an aluminum monocoque frame and a weight of 175 kg without fuel, which is 4 kg lighter than the previous generation.
Standard electronic features include a six-axis inertial measurement unit supporting cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine brake control, all adjustable via a 5-inch TFT display. While the Dark is more affordable than the standard version, some features like the Ducati Quick Shift and cruise control are available as optional accessories rather than standard equipment. A version limited to 47 hp is also available to meet A2 license requirements.
