Duchess of Edinburgh appointed Royal Patron of Visualise Scotland
The Duchess of Edinburgh has been appointed as the Royal Patron of Visualise Scotland, an Edinburgh-based organization that supports adults with visual impairments and complex disabilities. The charity, founded in 1987, provides housing support, supported living, and specialized day services across Edinburgh and East Lothian.
To mark the appointment, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of the Duchess, photographed by Millie Pilkington. The patronage holds personal significance for the Duchess, as her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, was born prematurely and required corrective surgery for a severe squint (esotropia).
In recent public appearances, the Duchess has also visited Capability Scotland to celebrate the charity's 80th anniversary, continuing her engagement with organizations providing care and education for disabled people.
