Duchess Sophie begins six-day official visit to Zambia
Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, has arrived in Zambia for a six-day official visit intended to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Zambia. Her itinerary includes stops in Lusaka, the Lower Zambezi, and Livingstone.
During her visit, the Duchess will engage in programs focused on gender equality, climate and nature conservation, education, and research partnerships. She is scheduled to meet with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and visit Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls), where she will lay a posy at a World War I memorial.
As a global ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, the Duchess also attended a reception hosted by Orbis ahead of the upcoming Global Summit for Eye Health. Her advocacy for eye health is a personal cause, following her daughter Lady Louise Windsor’s diagnosis with esotropia.
