Duck. ai introduces secure, encrypted conversation sharing
DuckDuckGo has introduced a new secure sharing feature for its AI chatbot, Duck. ai, allowing users to share conversations via unique, encrypted links. The system is designed so that DuckDuckGo cannot access the content of the shared chats.
To ensure privacy, the conversation is encrypted directly on the user's device before being uploaded to the server. The resulting share link contains two parts: an identifier to locate the encrypted chat on the server and a decryption key located after the '#' symbol in the URL. Because web browsers do not transmit the fragment following the '#' to servers, the key remains private to the user and the recipient.
Users can customize the validity period of these links, though they expire by default after 48 hours. Additionally, shared links allow recipients to continue the conversation with the AI chatbot. DuckDuckGo states that user conversations are not used for training AI models, and no account is required to use the sharing feature.
