Duck Invitational tennis tournament opens in Eugene

The opening day of the Duck Invitational at the Student Tennis Center in Eugene, Oregon, saw competitive performances from the University of Oregon, Washington State University, Gonzaga, and Portland.

The University of Oregon women's tennis team secured six of eight singles victories and four doubles wins. Notable performances included freshman Montserrat Baruqui's first collegiate win and straight-set victories from Hadley Appling, Patsy Daughters, Hinata Furutani, and Tilde Jagare.

Washington State University recorded four singles wins. Clara Schön, Chisato Kanemaki, Yura Nakagawa, and Ava-Monet Sycamore all secured victories in singles play. In doubles, Washington State saw a 6-1 win by Kanemaki and Schön against Oregon, while Nakagawa and Harper defeated Portland 6-0.
