DuckDuckGo iPhone privacy feature removes tracking from copied links

DuckDuckGo added a new privacy option to its iOS app called Copy Clean Link. When a user copies a URL on an iPhone, the feature automatically strips away any tracking parameters that follow the question mark, leaving only the clean address on the clipboard. This helps prevent the sharing of identifiers such as UTM tags or Facebook click‑ids.

The update appeared in the App Store at the end of July. DuckDuckGo clarified that the tool only cleans the copied link; it does not block cookies or other trackers that may be set when the link is later opened. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
