Dudley five‑year‑old Jaxon calls 999 to rescue unconscious mother

Five‑year‑old Jaxon Canavan was at home in Dudley with his younger brother when his mother, Stacey, fell down the stairs, hit her head and became unconscious. He calmly dialed 999, gave his address and waited for emergency services. Police officers arrived, one leapt over a gate to provide first aid while paramedics followed, and the mother recovered fully.

In recognition of his quick thinking, Jaxon received the Chief Constable’s Young Person’s award from West Midlands Police. He was also presented with a police‑issued bicycle and tickets to the force’s museum by the Stourbridge Neighbourhood Team. Police officials praised his composure and highlighted the importance of teaching children when to use emergency services.
