Dugo Selo opens new kindergarten facility in Velika Ostrna

A new branch of the Dugo Selo Kindergarten will open in Velika Ostrna this autumn. The facility, valued at over two million euros, is designed to accommodate up to 80 children across four educational groups.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović attended the opening, stating that the government is investing heavily in preschool education to support young families. He noted that the government has also supported school construction projects in the Dugo Selo area exceeding 19 million euros to improve educational quality and enable single-shift school operations.

Mayor Nenad Panian highlighted the importance of the project for the city's demographics. According to 2025 data, Dugo Selo has been a leading Croatian city in terms of natural population growth and birth rates per thousand inhabitants.
