DUI demands annulment of police school recruitment competition

The opposition party Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has called for the annulment of a recruitment competition at the ‘7 May’ secondary police school, alleging systematic exclusion of ethnic minorities.

DUI reports that out of 310 newly admitted candidates, only 11 belong to minority communities, including Albanians, Turks, Roma, and Serbs. The party noted that Albanians represent less than 3 percent of the admitted group. Consequently, DUI is demanding a repeat of the competition to ensure fair representation of all communities.

The party is also seeking political accountability, specifically calling for the resignation of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Astrit Iseni. DUI argues that the current recruitment process undermines the multi-ethnic character of the state and violates the principles of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. They are calling for the establishment of mandatory mechanisms to ensure equitable representation within law enforcement and security structures, from recruitment to leadership positions.
